Hallelujah!

If there was ever a time to use this word it is now. Let’s say it out loud, with joy and celebration – Hallelujah – a savior has been born! I did things backwards this week because this song is a different version (my preferred one) of the Hallelujah song. I’ve used that word many times over the years, which, looking back now, seems to reduce the significance of the true meaning “God be praised.” My instances usually are referring to “Hallelujah – I made it through that traffic jam” or a relieved – Hallelujah – upon receiving a long awaited check in the mail. I’m sure you can recall a similar time you’ve used this most joyous word, but maybe out of context to it’s true intention. Christmas and the birth of the Christ Child is the best reminder for being beyond joyful and beyond thankful. When I listen to this song, I want to proclaim all of God’s glory for sending His only Son. There is no story to share this week that would be more important than the story of Jesus’ birth. I hope you will take time to take in the true significance of this word – Hallelujah! I pray for all of you to have a blessed and merry Christmas, remembering most of all “the reason for the season.”

“Hallelujah! Praise the name of God, praise the works of God. All you priests on duty in God’s temple, serving in the sacred halls of our God, shout ‘Hallelujah!’ because God’s so good, sing anthems to his beautiful name.” Psalm 135:1-3
