Amazing

The first visual I picture in my mind is fireworks.  I love fireworks!  Even as a child I can recall going to the 4th of July parade in our small town, watching the stream of local marching bands, fire trucks and other entertainment stroll down Main Street.  Then, once the sun went down, we were all rewarded with the amazing display of bursts of continuous lights strewn across the darkened sky, one more amazing than the next, followed by the exciting booms, and oohs and ahhs from the crowd.  For me it never gets old; and still as an adult today, I have never tired of sitting on an old quilt underneath me, watching yet again another display of those amazing fireworks!  However, as I sit quietly in my comfy chair and read the daily scripture, another picture of amazing comes to mind.  To read about the thousands of miracles Jesus performed during his time on this earth is a much better picture.  Although you and I did not physically witness these amazing miracles, we believe because of others who saw them with their own eyes.  Because of the Bible and our faith, we know these stories are not fairytales.  They are actual accounts of how Jesus left his permanent mark, in so many ways, on our hearts and souls.  AND it doesn’t end even today!  He continues to perform amazing works in each of our lives, every single day.  How many times do we say His timing is amazing, or that His words that He speaks to us, whether silently or written, are amazing and have changed lives forever?   My mind now imagines those amazing fireworks we experience, across the darkened sky, are really bursts of light that represent all the amazing miracles that Jesus has and always will perform before our eyes.  He is our one true amazing light show every single day.  We don’t need to wait until the 4th of July or any other celebration.   I pray that we are all witnesses of Jesus’ countless, amazing signs and wonders meant for us to recognize.

“Oh Lord, my God, you have accomplished many things; you have done amazing things and carried out your purposes for us.  No one can thwart you!  I want to declare them and talk about them, but they are too numerous to recount!”  Psalm 40:5
