Fresh

During these warmer summer months, the cooling word of fresh brings so many images to my mind.  I can picture the clothesline in our back yard that held freshly washed sheets and that wonderful fresh fragrance that now only comes in the form of dryer sheets or fabric softener.  I think of summertime and the abundance of fresh vegetable and fruit stands always on the side of the road, as my parents and I made our way to the beach in Rehoboth, Delaware every year.  But what my mind holds onto most is how this journey of words really started.  How did I get to this point of writing stories?  Every week God and I post a fresh, positive word with a short story to hold onto during your week. Some may give you hope, some a little chuckle or maybe a lesson to share with others.  However, it really all started with my poetry.  I thought, since it is summer, I would freshen things up and share some of my rhyming thoughts that started my journey with words.   My poetry was originally published in book form entitled, “Crosses in the Sky.”  It held numerous stories of inspiration where contributors shared times they have witnessed God in their everyday lives.  It also contained beautiful photography showing God’s glory in nature and people.  The book was definitely a labor of love, thanks to the help of so many friends and especially my wonderful husband.  Here is one of my favorites that I’d like to share.   Stay cool and remember to always keep your journey with God fresh and alive, especially during these warm (maybe hot) summer months!  I also hope this will inspire you to do something fresh in your own relationship with our Lord.

God is in the faces of the people we meet.  They’re there for a moment or our whole life complete.

We may not even know why they show up at times, when we needed them most, no reason or rhyme.

But know He has a plan as we travel our paths – these faces bring us comfort or remind us to laugh.

Some make us angry and bring out our worst – Others remind us that we don’t always come first.

He uses these faces to teach us His lessons we need to learn to reach high up to heaven.

And when we don’t get it again and again, He sends us another, but we never know when.

So don’t take for granted the faces you meet, at just the right moment as they stop you to greet.

Don’t close your eyes to fresh lessons you’ll learn – They’re meant for a reason – you need only to turn.   (dls)
