One – I was struck by lightning recently! Lightning in the sense that God can strike at moment’s notice, with no warning. One – it only takes one person to make a difference, and He reminded me of that again. With Jesus, was it important to Him to count the numbers of the followers He had? Did He keep a spreadsheet of how many healings He performed or from where His followers came? Did He ever ask His disciples, “Did you see how many people were at my sermon today?” I must admit that I check my blog every week to see if more people have subscribed, finding myself feeling disappointed, if only a little, that it’s not more. I ask Jesus, “Am I doing your will in sending out these words and inspirations each week?”, questioning their worth to others. But it took only one lightning bolt from above today, and one special friend and follower, to remind me that’s all that’s important – one! You see, I was lining up a series of words to post in advance From God’s Lips and accidentally sent out my weekly email too early. I panicked, desperately pushing buttons, trying to fix and reverse my error. I was frantic, thinking I had messed up. But did I? I discovered soon after that Jesus had other plans. My friend was meant to read those words at that exact moment (and I mean exact). She reached out to me, letting me know how timely it was when she received my “unscheduled” post. It was then that I was struck. Her words of genuine gratitude opened my eyes and heart. It doesn’t matter if it’s only one, you and I make a difference, many times when we don’t even know how our words and actions affect someone’s day. If we help only one person today, God sees that it is good. So don’t be consumed with the numbers or the number of times you need to make a difference. It only takes one. Jesus knows what we need at any given time and uses His angels, all of us, here on Earth to do the job! I will be forever humbled and grateful for affecting only one! Thank you, Lord, for giving every one of us the grace to affect one person today.
“As each has received a gift, employ it for one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:10
