News

It seemed like a strange word to focus on, but when a past experience jumps immediately into your mind, you know that you should listen.  Aren’t we always praying for good news?  It may be for a successful outcome of  a surgery for a loved one, or the hope of receiving good news that your prayers were answered for any number of concerns.  During the early years of our marriage, my husband was diligently studying and working hard to obtain his CPA (Certified Public Accountant).  In addition to working a full-time job, he also needed to spend quality time studying for the exam, which is taken over a three-day timeframe and only administered two times a year.  There was a lot of pressure to pass this exam, especially for his career and our future.  The anticipation in waiting for the news, sent through the mail, to say the least, was nail biting and felt like torture.  Unfortunately, we didn’t get the good news we had longed for, and then the anxiety of having to wait another grueling six months, plus more study time, didn’t help.  Finally, though, that day finally came when he opened that coveted letter, reading the good news in print – He passed!  What an amazing relief it was for him and an exciting beginning to what was to come.  However, as good as that news was, there’s always another good news that you and I are praying for behind that one, right?  We seem to focus on receiving good news instead of knowing the goods news is here already.  Jesus Christ came to into the world as an innocent babe but was here to change the world for us all.  He physically walked this earth spreading the good news and loved us so much that He died on a cross for our sins.  What better news could we ever hope for?  Who would we be today without Him?  That’s why nothing else matters.  Let’s never forget how blessed we are that Jesus lived, died and then rose in all His glory for you and me.  That’s what I call the greatest news of all!

“Go back to your house and let them have the news of all the great things which God has done for you.  And he went away, giving word through all the town of the great things which Jesus had done for him.”
