Born

I think it’s pretty safe to say that none of us remember what it was like when we were born.  What a magical moment it was when you came into this world, took your first breath and used those lungs to let the world know you had arrived.  We wouldn’t remember being wrapped in a warm blanket and cuddled close in the arms of our loved ones.  Maybe there were friends and family members that came to visit us, bringing gifts of congratulations and welcoming us.  At the time, our parents had hopes and dreams for this new life, but no one truly knew what the future would hold.  It was foretold to Mary and Joseph that their newborn child was destined for great things.  Ruler, Healer, Teacher of all the Nations!  The closest you and I would have gotten is having a college fund set up to attend the best university or maybe at an early age you wanted to be a fire fighter or even  president of the United States.  How can we even compare our birth event to the importance of Jesus being born?  As He lay in the cattle trough on old hay, was it known even then when He stretched out his little hands that He was a King?  Did Mary and Joseph understand what they were undertaking as parents to the one who would save the world?  Shepherds and wisemen came immediately to witness and honor what they had also been foretold.  But did they really know how Jesus being born would affect them and people for thousands of years?  Again, it may make our birth seem insignificant in comparison; but that is exactly why our birth IS significant.  He came here for you, to make sure that the miracle of your birth and life on this earth is a gift.  So, no matter where you are on your journey of life, know that because this baby was born, you matter.  You are loved and His tiny hands are reaching out to you right now.  Let’s honor this holy day by acknowledging the miracle of being born and following this newborn King every day to experience true joy!  May you experience all the joy of this Christmas season.  No matter what your circumstance at this moment, He loves you and that’s all that matters.
