Yes

I know this may sound crazy, but I still love it when my husband, out of the blue, announces, “I’ve got a good idea.”  I guarantee you, my eyes will light up, excited to hear what his idea is, even after 50+ years from when we first met.  It may be surprising me with a weekend getaway, suggesting a fun day excursion in the car or maybe a project to do around the house.  It even amazes me with my almost involuntary response that my ears perk up and my lips, before he’s even expressed this new idea, are ready to speak the word, “Yes!”  Now, don’t get me wrong, there are times I may roll my eyes, and I am not always on board with this new idea.  However, the point is, I trust that his plan is worth listening to.  From experience, I’m prepared to say yes.  Now, let’s put ourselves in Mary’s place when she said yes to the Angel.   There were so many unknowns.  What was she saying yes to?  It must have been just a little unnerving not knowing what lay in front of her.  She didn’t have the advantage of knowing this angel for 50+ years, appearing out of nowhere.  But thankfully, she did trust in the Lord because of her belief in God’s prophesy.   How many times in this new year, will we trust in God to guide us on right paths?  How many times in this new year, will we say yes to His will for us?  I pray that I will not be rolling my eyes, when He’s trying to lead me in a new direction.  I pray that I will say Yes, no matter how many times I need Him to remind me to try again.   So, as you start this new year, will you say yes to Jesus’ ideas? Will you throw away the tradition of stale resolutions and just focus on listening, ears perked, to hear when Jesus says, “Hey, I’ve got a great idea!”  Wouldn’t it be an exciting year to just trust what He has in store for you and me.  I pray you’re with me in this new year.  I say, “YES!”  How about you?

“So, Mary said, ‘Yes, I am a servant of the Lord; let this happen to me according to your word.’ Then the angel departed from her.”  Luke 1:38
