Real

We use so many familiar words or phrases to describe this most Holy Day as Christians.  In celebration of this special day, we’re full of joy and are likely to greet each other with a “Hallelujah”, “He is risen”, or “He lives”, all trying our best to express the importance of what took place over 2,000 years ago.  The story of Jesus’ crucifixion, and His resurrection three days later is no fairytale.  It is real!  Every year, at this time, we relive His story, recalling of the events of Jesus’ life, ministry and everything leading up to today, Easter.   Do we sometimes take for granted that these were actual events that took place and quickly hurry through this day?  Jesus was true flesh and blood, just like you and me, but without sin.  If you were there, you could  have reached out and physically touched Him.  If we were there, we could have witnessed Him healing a blind man or wiping His face as He struggled towards the Cross.  If we stood in front of Him, we could have heard His actual voice.  He was, and still is, real.  So, celebrate today and this Easter season by using all the words to describe this glorious day in history – the most important historical event of all times; but never, as we go forward on our journey, take Jesus’ life for granted or doubt for even a second that He walked this Earth. Never take for granted the sacrifices He made for you and me as we continue on our own journey. He lives – He loves you – and yes, Jesus is real!  Nothing else matters today.

“This is real love – not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” 1 John 4:10
