Remember when you could remember things? Hopefully you can get a little chuckle out of that question, knowing that it’s many times a struggle to just remember that person’s name you haven’t seen in a while (or maybe it was yesterday). These days, it’s more of a challenge for me remembering details of so many things. It frustrates me that almost every time my husband and I leave the house to go somewhere, we must turn the car around because we forgot at least one item. Even remembering details of stories from my childhood have unfortunately dimmed.
My brother (six years older) , however, can recount so many stories about our earlier days growing up, and is a great storyteller. It amazes me every time that he shares one of these childhood events, he can remember even the smallest of details. I’ve come to value the wonderful conversations we have that bring those days back to life for me.
Remembering and sharing stories is also what the Bible is all about. Each sacred page recalls our rich history and brings those events back to life for you and me. It’s the reason why, we as Christians, understand how important it is to gather every week to remember, profess our faith, and yes, even recite memorized prayers together. The more we hold onto and remember these stories – God’s stories – the more our faith will grow and give us strength through difficult times.
Thank you, brother, for keeping our childhood stories alive! Thank you also to all those gone before us that have witnessed and bravely recorded these historical accounts and their stories, creating the most published and bestselling book in the world – The Bible! If you haven’t opened it recently, I pray that you will today and going forward.
“I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands.” Psalm 143:5

Donna,
I am in the same boat! My friends recall many things that I have forgotten. All my siblings are gone but my sister was a great resource of things I had forgotten and since I was the youngest, she could tell me things I didn’t know. Every time I read something the Bible, something different opens up. Amazing how God puts me right where I am supposed to be.
Thank you,🩷🙏
