Story

If you’ve been reading From God’s Lips for a while, you’ve come to expect me to share a short, personal story that relates to our word for the week.  And maybe you, yourself, had an occasion where you are able to relate your own story because of my experiences.  My purpose for telling this personal side is to show, in each of our stories, we are always connected to God.  We all have thousands of individual stories to tell about how we’ve lived our lives.  Unfortunately, recalling some of those stories may bring us sadness and regrets.  However, again, my purpose for sharing my stories each week is to hopefully bring a positive light from a much deeper perspective.

One thing we know for sure is that Jesus was a master storyteller, most often using parables to illustrate what He stated as complex ideas in relatable ways.  So it would only be natural to follow in His footsteps by sharing our own stories.

Everything, and I mean every single event in your life, brought you to where you are standing now.  One page or chapter of the story, tragic or joyful, does not define you and me.  We also cannot even begin to read between all the lines, all our events, the infinite blessings we’ve received because of our life experiences (with still more yet to come).

I love writing down my stories because it allows me to fully understand how my journey has always been connected and blessed by God.  Even when those moments in my life that seem to have been unfair and outright painful, it has molded me; and I pray He is continuing to mold me to His desires.  I am standing here now and so are you.  It is not by our own strength that we have survived all the highs and lows.  Each of our stories makes us unique, and scripture proclaims we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.”  Your imprint on this earth matters.  Every day that you walk with Jesus, your important story is being created by God’s own hands.  How is your story going so far?   Do you see the blessings Jesus has gifted you?

“At about that same time, Jesus left the house and sat on the beach.  In no time at all a crowd gathered along the shoreline, forcing him to get into a boat.  Using the boat as a pulpit, he addressed his congregation, telling stories.”  Matthew 13:1
