Confident

Things are not always what they seem.  I’ve discovered, over the years, that the people that seem most confident in public, some don’t carry that same assuredness on the inside.  I think back on how far I’ve come on that journey.  I remember being a friendly and outgoing little girl growing up, although short in stature.  In fact, my nickname was Peanut!  But as we mature, things get a little more serious, right?  When I entered the business world, I was not prepared for my role in interacting confidently with clients and other more seasoned business colleagues.  I guess you could say I was like a deer in headlights.

My husband, and business partner then, will still tell you today that he’s had to deal with my lack of confidence throughout our whole marriage.  So many times, throughout our years together, he’s lifted me up, encouraged me to forge ahead, and praised me when I thought I wasn’t good enough.  Thankfully, with each small step out of my box (comfort zone), and even those that included falling a few times (or more), I have survived.

If you look back on the times you wanted to give up, the times you thought you weren’t good enough or maybe even regret choices you made, remember who your biggest cheerleader is!  Why wouldn’t He be?  He was the one that created you and we all know God does not make mistakes.  He knows what you are capable of, even if some days you feel unworthy.  The key to growing in confidence is to stay close to that #1 cheerleader and other encouragers who He puts in our paths that recognize our true gifts and potential because we are a child of God.

What is holding you back today from stepping out of the box, your comfort zone, to be more confident?  Having faith and holding fast to Jesus’ teachings gives you and me a more confident feeling that is anchored in love.  It is not about being boastful, or a desire to have our ego fed by others.  It is the understanding that the right kind of confidence comes from knowing we are enough in His eyes.  Jesus is saying that to you right now.  Are you confident you can hear Him?

“God has not given us a spirt of fear, but one of power, love and self-discipline.”  2 Timothy 1:7
