What? I bet we have you thinking about what this message will be. “Jesus didn’t hold any business seminars”, you say? Or did He? My own definition of a seminar is a group of individuals gathered together to listen to an inspirational speaker deliver valuable information in an uplifting way. The many speakers I encountered throughout my business career did just that. They gave me practical tips and knowledge to increase my business, but from a very positive perspective. Their delivery of words encouraged me, turned my enthusiasm up a couple of notches and made me feel like I wasn’t alone in all the mistakes I made along the way.
So, I’m thinking Jesus was the ultimate keynote speaker. He definitely had the gift of drawing large crowds to listen to His words; He gave them knowledge about how to better their lives through embracing the message sent from God, His Father. He did it by projecting a positive and uplifting experience. Jesus wanted everyone to believe! The disciples didn’t understand it at the time, but their Rabbi excelled at holding seminars.
Plus, there were no costly fees to attend. You could come as you were and did not require any participation or education. Jesus just wanted to deliver His messages, His life-giving knowledge to anyone that would listen.
I learned many things over the years from attending my business seminars. It gave me courage to go back to my business and take a hard look at how I could be better. These speakers, many times, opened my eyes to what I needed to do to be even more successful. That is exactly what Jesus did, and still is, doing in our lives today. He just wants us to stop, sit down on the hillside (or in our living room chair) and give Him a chance to deliver His message. The best part is you can walk away, there is no pressure to believe, because He gives us free will to follow Him.
There are many ways to “sign up” for Jesus’ seminars today; open a bible, find a mentor or a faith-filled friend, read uplifting and encouraging stories about the saints, or find a local church and just sit quietly and pray. You will be among like-minded people, all sinners. We just want to be more successful in our earthly life to get to our next journey of heaven.
