Yes, no single word of ours to reflect on today – just a question. Every one of us, at specific times in our lives, needs to hear something different. Many times, even we don’t know what that might be. Over these past years of me acting in union with God sending our words of inspiration, I’ve heard from so many of you that one word used that week made a difference for you, spoke to you, at just the right moment. Maybe listening to the accompanying song or chosen scripture made a difference. Or was it the message, my short story, that allowed you to connect more deeply with the Holy Spirit?
During my week, it may be a scripture that I read, or something else that I see or hear that prompts me to stop and think, “What are you trying to say to me?” Trust me, I hear no physical voice, but an inner desire to express words and a message that was meant for someone to hear when they needed it most. As I continue to share these weekly words, Jesus already knows what you need to hear. It may be on this page, this time, or in some other fashion. And because He communicates with us in so many different ways, we need to be open, to be alert in hearing those messages. So, when you read or experience something, yes, even my one word for the week, and it touches your heart, that is no mere coincidence. Jesus needs you to hear that message. It may be in a weekly homily or even a billboard message on the side of the road. When you feel that little tug on your heart, I now understand it’s the Holy Spirit, confirming that Jesus is there and speaking just to you.
Be open! Whether it’s From God’s Lips, a note from a friend, a song on the radio, a passage in the Bible, or in the miracle of nature, we should never take for granted who is sending us a message. Trust that Jesus knows, He understands, and desires you to listen. Let us never underestimate or take for granted how our Lord speaks to us throughout our day.
I pray that today you will recognize how the Holy Spirit is communicating with you. All each of us must do is accept God already knows our every need, trust Him and rest in His love. Think about keeping a journal with you and write down your thoughts when you recognize God is speaking to you. God bless you this week!
“Speak Lord, for your servant is listening.” 1 Samuel 3:9-10
