Trust

Where does trust show up on your scale when something goes chaotic in your life?  Do you try with everything in your power to control the situation and solve the problem, or are you willing to let go and TRUST that everything will work for good?  I wrestle with this all the time.  I read scripture that tells me God is in control.   I pray a Hail Mary and other memorized prayers, and I wait in patience (well maybe not total patience) for an answer to my problem, concern or worry.  Silence.

But when we don’t get the answers or solutions to the problem from praying and trusting, what do we do?  Like true human beings, we tend to go back into action mode and still try to be in control.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe God wants us to just sit back and wait for something to happen – to be blind to the issue or possible answers He puts in our path.  He gave us free will.  But I wish I could trust more completely in His timing vs. my timing in how my prayers will be answered.

I don’t know about you, but my patience is usually wearing thin after one day – “Where is my answer, Lord?”  So, I keep learning that His plan for me is, for the most part, out of my control.  What “unanswered prayer can you recall right now  in your life that did not end up matching with His?

My husband and I desperately wanted a family, but after many years of tests, doctors’ appointments and other challenges, plus many prayers, it wasn’t meant to be.   It was hard to trust that having a baby was not part of God’s plan.  So, my husband and I were challenged with trusting the path that WAS chosen for us.  Through it all, I am confident He gave us the strength to embrace His plan – to a life full of more richness in our relationship than I ever could have imagined.

Looking  back when your plan didn’t match His, what gift did He bless you with instead?  Or maybe you never recognized that gift because it wasn’t what you had hoped.  You and I deal with trusting in God every single day.  I try to grow that trust by sharing these words each week, by staying connected with my church and circle of friends, plus trying to always stay focused in keeping close to Him in many other ways.

I surely don’t want to miss hearing that still, small voice that continues to tell me to trust Him, especially when His plan is different from mine.  I pray that you stay focused and trust in God’s plan for you this week.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.  He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”  Jeremiah 17:7-8
