Renewed

If you’re a return reader of “From God’s Lips”, you know one of my hopes is you’re encouraged to view your faith from a light, sometimes a little humorous, and positive side each week.  My intention is always about “how do we move forward” and not about holding on to our past stumbles and sins.  And most importantly, through God’s and my message, how we can grow closer to Him and His word.

As I stand in the midst of my golden age (very scary), sometimes those stumbles seem to stare me in the face.  When my husband and I are out for a walk or even shopping, the joke is, when we see a step coming, a curb or an unevenness in our path that could be hazardous, we alert the other, “Pick your feet up,” to avoid a misstep.  And, like one of those clowns at the circus with big, clumsy feet, we both start picking our feet up and laugh out loud.

Renewing our faith in the Lord, when we know we’ve stumbled, doesn’t come so easy sometimes.  It takes recognizing that we need to refocus, wake up our senses, especially if we’ve taken a misstep in our journey.  To be renewed is not like one of those automatic magazine or vitamins you didn’t even realize to which you had subscribed.  Our package of faith doesn’t suddenly show up at the front door from Amazon or wrapped in a package with a bow.

So, what are some ways to renew our trust, our focus, our passion and walk with God?  It may start with doing something new – not part of your normal prayer routine.  However, this time, I would love to hear some suggestions that work for you.  What keeps your faith burning?   It can also help if we write down our ideas that help us to recognize we always need to be renewed, practices that bring us closer and closer to the light.  Maybe it’s even recalling those times when you felt you were closest to God, feeling the warmth of His loving arms.

Trust me, all of us have stories of past hurts, struggles, sadness and yes, even tragedies.   We could probably talk about them to anyone that will listen.  We can even choose to recount repeatedly all the pain that was caused.  But the choice still remains…Do you stay where you are and accept it or move forward for the true reward?  I’ll say it again, being renewed is a choice to move towards the light, towards God.  So, when do you start?

In this still Easter Season, it is the perfect time to get started, to renew your walk with God, to feel alive and look towards hope.  Our best counselor is Jesus.  He listens, He lifts our burdens, He understands, He forgives, He loves unconditionally, even when we are too tired to lift our feet up.

I pray that you will step up and look to renewing your soul, your spirit and being uplifted in His love.  Don’t delay – I can feel His love pouring over you already.  Can you?

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”  Isaiah 40:31
